This must be very interesting thing for the children because they have to get messy with the soda and make experiment with it at the same time.


Materials


For having fun with the science projects for 5th graders, unopened soda can surely will be very important material which should be prepared. The soda should be the regular one instead of the diet soda. It should be soda with clear color so there is no stain risk when it explodes. Smock or apron will be needed for avoiding the clothes from getting ruined. Pen as well as paper will be needed for making notes.


Procedure

At first, the can of soda should be shaken vigorously for about a minute before the students can open it. The result of this experiment should be noted of course. The next experiment which should be done is started with the same method. A can of soda should be shaken vigorously for approximately one minute. However, the top of the soda tin needs to be tapped a few times using their finger before they can open it. The result should be noted as well. Last but not least, the students should shake the soda can vigorously for about a minute. They will not tap the top of it because they should do snapping motion at the sides of the soda can a few times. The result after opening the can should be noted as well. The students can research and compare the result.
